Our work

The Almeria Bar Association Colegio de la Abogacía de Almería starts up the service ALPI (legal aid on international protection) with the purpose of reaching people in need of international protection and also to those who have sought asylum and those who have or have not been recognized as refugees or stateless persons.
The office aims to increase the provision of information more individually and with a more legal and detailed approach, adapted to each personal situation. This objective is based mainly on the fact that the province of Almeria is the place where there is a high concentration of installed or newly arrived persons, as well as refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless persons.
This project is carried out within the framework of the agreement signed between the General Council of the Spanish Bar Association and UNHCR (the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). Among the priorities of the UNHCR office in Spain are the information and counselling on their rights, as well as the identification and referral of persons in need of international protection to the asylum procedure ACNUR en España.
The work of the office ALPI is focused on the realization of this purpose.
